“Exemplary Practices in Marine Science Education,” co-edited by Diana L. Payne of Connecticut Sea Grant, has been published by Springer Nature, which calls it the “first international book on marine science education and ocean literacy.”

Connecticut Sea Grant is accepting applications for four Long Island Sound Mentor Teachers (LISMT) for the LISMT program in Connecticut. Pairs of teachers from each of the following grade level bands are encouraged to apply: K-8 and 9-12.

Coastal Certificate graduates learn Sound gardening practices
“This class has inspired me to do a lot more with native plants,” said Janet McAllister, whose recent move to a shoreline property in Milford made her want to learn how to practice gardening that helps rather than hurts the water quality of the Sound. She is one of 37 recent graduates of the Coastal Certificate program for master gardeners.
